Who am I anyway...
If you are like me, I have to connect with someone before I make a major purchase. I believe that the majority of collectors today want to connect with the artist on a somewhat personal level, before they invest in their artwork. Please allow me the opportunity for you to connect with me.
Since my early childhood, photography has always been a passion. I can recall having photos and posters in my room as a child of places or events that fascinated me. Magazines like Life and National Geographic captured my attention. I would constantly look at them over and over again, until the pages became worn out. I loved those moments that where captured and placed on the pages for me to see.
By the time I was in 8th grade, I began shooting for our grade school year book. This carried on into my high school years where I became the yearbook photographer. I can still recall that what interested me more than anything during those school years, was trying to capture the story behind the moments I was photographing. I wanted to create an image with which people could connect.
In 1999, I began writing and photographing for worldwide model railroad magazines. That venue continued for the next decade.
In 2005, I began producing a photographic product line specific to model railroaders. Today, those products are still available worldwide.
In 2012, I decided to pour into my artwork with love and passion and became a full-time artist. I studied under two influential photographers who are famous worldwide; Jack Graham and Bill Fortney.
Bill is one of America’s premier photographers specializing in Landscape, close-up, nature, Americana, aerial, and travel. In his 44 year career, Bill has been an Associated Press photographer, medical photographer, Nikon field rep, as well as the official photographer for the Washington Redskins during his sports photography years.
Jack is a landscape and nature photographer, workshop leader and author with more than 30 years experience. He is a Fuji X-Photographer and contributor to magazines such as Landscape Photography and Outdoor Photographer.
As a result of their education and my willingness to continue to learn, my photography has been collected in over 37 countries around the world. I have had several solo and semi-solo gallery and museum exhibits. It is truly an honor and privilege that I don’t take lightly.
I believe that moments in time are just that. Those moments never happen the same way again. I want my work to express those unique moments that I witnessed so that together, we can experience them.
As an artist, my greatest hope is to create a photograph that has real meaning to it and has the ability to bless the ones who view my work. My goal is to create a photograph that provokes thought, or may stir up an emotional connection to what you are viewing. I want to make images that allow me to express my personal experiences, my faith in the beautiful creation that God has made for all mankind to appreciate and enjoy, and our history of this great nation.
Photography is so much more than just another pretty picture. I want you to feel that I love my subject first, and the medium I share it on, a distant second. I believe that is my gifting and hence my responsibility to share it with all who see my work.
It is my aspiration that the photographs and services you collect from me tell a story… a story on how I captured a moment in time and allow you the opportunity to experience that same moment in your home or business.
